NUMBERS

Hello Good People

I finished proof-reading ‘PROM’ a few hours ago. Some figures to amuse you:

Some 601 Kindle pages. Just 19 errors to be corrected. That’s approx 1 error to each 32 pages. Not so bad.

As to that 601 figure, allow an error-of-count of 10 pages either side; so either 591 or 611 pages. Still a hell of a number of pages either way. The 601 figure would equate to roughly 200 pages of a medium-sized novel.

One last thing. In the closing pages, one of the character’s uses the term ‘Carvel’s Child’. That could be an interesting title-in-waiting!

That’s it.

IS THERE ANYBODY THERE???

Hello Good People

I’ve just realised I’ve been neglecting you for a wee while. My apologies, but my reason for so doing is valid. I’m in the process of proof-reading ‘PROMETHEUS ASCENDING’ …. even though it’s now on Kindle. Thus far, I’ve noted 15 errors, but in a page count of 512! Not so bad. Something like 1 error in every 34 pages. Some not even errors, but changes that I wish in the actual context of the story. I have a feeling the book will run to close on 600 pages; kindle pages, that is! When all this is done, I have to do a list of the required corrections for Smiley. She will then ‘go into Kindle’ and make those corrections. She’s linked into it all, I just write the stuff! Good ol’ Smiley.

Right, back to the grindstone. Stay happy.

It Never Ends

Hello Good People

Had a nice catch-up ‘phone call to Smiley a short time ago. Some lady. ‘GEORGE’ 2 is still set to go on within the next two weeks. Smiley will also be doing some spelling corrections to ‘PROM’, even though it’s now on Kindle. It never ends!

That’s it, really. The hectic life of an author ….. on Kindle at least.

Cheers,

‘PROM’ FOR HARD GLORY?

Hello Good People

Well, now ‘PROMETHEUS ASCENDING’ is up and running on Amazon-Kindle, time to find out if it can find glory …. in hardback. In other words, via conventional publishing. To this end, I’ve approached the publishing house of HARPER COLLINS, who look after the writings of the late Michael Crichton. Never satisfied, that’s my problem; never satisfied.

Onwards and upwards.

A NOVEL READ ON KINDLE

Hello Good People

I have just read my first full-length novel on a Kindle pad. In fact, my touch-screen, Paper White Kindle pad. Also, the book in question being mine: ‘PROMETHEUS ASCENDING’.

Whilst being mindful of self praise being no praise at all, let me simply say, it wasn’t that bad! Some stray typing errors along the way, and also a minor contradiction within the plot, but neither enough to distract my reading. At times, I really was simply ‘reading a book’, and the odd time not fully conscious that it was my words I was reading. Mind you, I’d still like to see it published in conventional form, but won’t hold my breath.

So, it’s six down, three to go, then one next year (the last). Hopefully, come the end of 2015, that will be ten books on Kindle. Not bad.

That’s it.

PS: Newsflash: Christmas is just around the corner. Ho Ho Ho.

I HAVE BEEN TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP ……..

Hello Good People

I’ve been to the mountain top (metaphorically speaking) and spoken with She Who Must Be Obeyed.

In reality it was, of course, a catch-up call with Smiley; our first connect since her return from her holiday and fun’games at the Notting Hill carnivaaaal! The bottom line details being:

‘GEORGE’ 2 will go on Kindle in this new month (September); the ‘Shadow’ novellas around Christmas time; we’re going to try to put my ad card (for my Kindle writings) on Facebook and/or an Amazon field exactly as it stands. Mmmmm.

I suggested to Smiley her last full day prior to going on holiday must have been something else. Packing, containing an excited young daughter and getting ‘PROMETHEUS ASCENDING’ on Kindle. She, Smiley that is, really is ‘somethin’ else’.

In closing, I’ve just remembered, the other full novel I wrote (in the mid-‘70s) – ‘RETROSUM’ – is waiting in the wings. Don’t worry, that’s something for later next year.

That’s it. Catch you later.
