Hello Good People
This morning there was a feature on the TV news. I was otherwise engaged, so was barely engaged with either the images or commentary. The item appeared a few times in the course of the day. Then, on one such occasion, the penny dropped as to what it was all about: the first declared successful FULL face transplant. Later, when I was out, I bought some newspapers and, there within, details and pictures of the said event.
The same story – in a fictional context – is in ‘PROMETHEUS ASCENDING’. However, in my book it is just a ruse, to hide the truth of what the ‘Carvel Experiment’ is actually to be; the transplanting of a living human brain. In speaking the ruse, Carvel explains, in visual terms, the difference between a face transplant and a FULL face transplant. The former is demonstrated, by Carvel, when he holds a Greek mask of Drama on a stick held up to his face. In the latter, by pulling a balaclava over his head, suggesting to the onlookers that the balaclava represents the flesh (and hair) that covers the entire skull.
I actually included this in the segment titled ‘Frankenstein re-visited’, which I wrote some two years ago. Yesterday’s fiction, today’s fact. Get in there!
